Congleton welcomes new first citizen

Congleton residents are invited to attend a special Mayor Making Ceremony at the Town Hall this Thursday.

The evening will see the current Town Mayor, Councillor Robert Brittain, hand over the chain of office to his successor following a successful and memorable year representing the town.

During the formal proceedings, the newly elected town mayor will make their official pledge of office and introduce their mayoral party. A new Deputy Town Mayor will also be appointed for the civic year ahead.

The Mayor Making Ceremony is one of the highlights of Congleton’s civic calendar and offers residents a chance to witness local democracy and tradition in action.
